Definition(s)
- Relocation Stress Syndrome is a set of symptoms, such as anxiety, confusion, hopelessness and loneliness, that occur when an individual moves from one environment to another. The symptoms can influence someone’s behavior, mood, and physiological well-being. In older adults RSS usually occurs after moving from a private residence to a nursing home and it can lead to physical and/or psychological decline, which can result in significant health complications and even pre-mature death. However, RSS can occur at any age, for instance also in children moving to another town or going to a new school.
