There are different contradicting defintions to be found on the internet:
- Functional cookies are cookies which are strictly necessary to be able to offer the visitors of a website the best experience. In order to be considered a functional cookie the cookie must not collect any personal data.
- Functional cookies are not strictly necessary for the functioning of a website, but improve user surfing quality and experience. Moreover they do not collect nor use sensitive information.
